School & Junk Shopping

Well, I am back at it for the next 12 weeks... The first six weeks consist of a communications course and a learning lab. The don't seem to be too tough but, time consuming nonetheless. I think I put in about 12 hours on school Sunday night & Monday, so I was exhausted by the time bedtime rolled around.

I played slacker yesterday, since it was Tyler's first day off in a week. We had a really great day. We were suppose to go to the park, but it was hot and miserable, so Tyler made an executive decision. We got up late, went to the mall, where I found a fabulous sale on jeans and capris at Rue 21. I bought two pairs of capris for less than $25. I also got my nails filled and cut down, so I can type like a normal human being again. After our trip to the mall came the fun part....

I've always been a "snob" about shopping. If it isn't either expensive or with designer labels I typically don't want much to do with it. The joys of being a frivolous woman... LOL. I guess Tyler finally got me out of my shell about that. He decided that it was a good day to go "Goodwill" shopping, and it was. I didn't even know where "Goodwill" was located.

At the first location I was still a little weird about the whole idea, but Tyler found another fish tank for Fredward and Edward, with a functioning light. He also bought a couple of "poker" drinking glasses, that he was super excited about. That boyish smile always makes the unpleasant so worth while. I did browse a few of the clothing racks and saw a pair of Vera Wang Jeans and a pair of DKNY. I want to do some research on resale prices before I buy, as we could make a little profit on Ebay. If I could sell a pair of jeans for at least $8, I could double my money. I'm not sure if its worth the time it would take to look through racks of clothing... maybe some day!!

At the second location, I started to get into our "junk" shopping!! I found a bright and summery turquoise shoulder bag from The Sak for under $5 that actually fits all of my stuff. Then we started looking for objects to decorate our kitchen. Since Tyler has been home from his court appointed vacation, we haven't been able to agree on a particular style of decor, which is starting to come together (finally, it only took us 5 months), when I found this interesting looking bottle filled with sunflower oil, bay leaves, rosemary, juniper, etc. It was dark enough to appeal to Tyler, and had a tag from its Italian manufacturer which appealed to me. We also found a similar bottle with other herbs and spices with various peppers without tags, but it was interesting enough to match. We also bought a Foreman grill, a cutting block, and few other odds and ends.

The third location, I began having fun looking through the clutter. It was located on the lower east side, off of Southeastern Blvd, so we were in a beautiful and high-end neighborhood. I thought I had died and gone to shopping heaven when I spotted a vintage Prada handbag within the first 5 minutes. It was in a locked case for auction with several other high-end designer bags so I didn't ask about it. As we looked through what was the size of a small warehouse packed with "stuff" I found several other glass bottles with the same Italian feel as the other two we purchased. We also found this unique wooden bottle like nick-nack with a a waxy label. I can't really place what it resembles, but it looks very vintage (and looks incredible) with my new collection of bottles. I also found a set of three wall hangings that are about 8x8, ceramic, and I would guess to be hand-painted, with different variations of coffee (espresso chocolate, mocha cafe creme, and vanilla francaise). We also found a long self to all of the bottles we purchased, a smaller shelf with a rack to hang dish towels and some candle holders, one of which wraps around one of our bottles perfectly. I also found some frames, and a couple of books with precious quotes that I will use for inspiration when scrapbooking.

By the time we were home, I was exhausted and my feet were throbbing. We ate a quick dinner of left over pizza, Tyler watched a Robert DeNiro movie on Netflix and set up our new fish tank (Edward loves the extra room to swim around but Fredward keeps hiding in the shells and shale), and I caught a nap. Around nine we ventured out to the dollar store for screws where I found a navy rug for our front room for $25. We hung shelves and pictures, painted candle holders, and arranged the bottles on the shelf, before hitting Mc Donalds for a frozen strawberry lemonade, and dinner for Tyler. We finally settled in on the couch with a new series on Netflix, before heading to bed and snuggles.

Today I am waiting for our Direct TV repairman to figure out what is wrong with out dish. I also have quite a bit of school work to get done. Tyler is working a double today, so may be an awfully lonesome day; just me, Edward, & hiding Fredward.
